The successful candidate must be able to run the department autonomously.

Responsible for the day to day running of the Accounts department, as follows:

Tasks include:

  • Sales ledger including debtors & credit applications
  • Purchase ledger invoicing – coding and posting
  • Nominal ledger and journal posting
  • Maintain and reconcile all monetary control accounts – GBP, USD & Euro cashbooks and petty cash.
  • FX transactions & daily rates
  • Supplier payments
  • Weekly & salaried payroll
  • Sage 50 payroll
  • Process new starters & leavers
  • Maintain employee records & holidays/absences
  • Pension submissions & administration
  • HMRC payments
  • Import VAT and related documentation
  • National Statistics forms & other reporting as required
  • Basic HR as required
  • Audit preparation
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required

Key skills & Experiences:



  • Must be fully conversant in Sage 50 payroll and Office, particularly Excel
  • Ability to work alone, prioritising workload and working to strict deadlines
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent attention to detail both in the preparation and reviewing of data

Knowledge/experience of the following would be beneficial:



  • Preparation of accounts
  • P&L and balance sheet
  • Month end tasks, such as prepayments, accruals & depreciation
  • VAT returns
