This post will be working within the General Surgery (Colorectal and Upper GI) & Orthopaedic departments in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. Raigmore Hospital is the district general hospital serving the population of the Highlands and provides acute health services.

The Rota Administrator has immediate responsibility for the management of the consultant and doctor in training rota; where there are gaps either scheduled or unscheduled, these must be managed proactively. The post holder must ensure that the rota is covered and take necessary action (sometimes in the absence of the Service Manager) to ensure safety. Decisions include rearranging consultant and doctor in training shift patterns, or instructing locums in regard to their working shift patterns.

The post holder will provide a day to day administrative role in the production and maintenance of the Monthly Medical staff on-call Rotas for General Surgery and Trauma & Orthopaedics – consultant and doctors in training rotas. In this respect the post holder will be required to liaise with all members of the clinical team and the Clinical Service Manager.

The post holder will act as the focal point of contact for Medical staff in relation to on-call Rota service enquiries. The post holder will also be a focal point for the provision of help and advice to staff members, patients and professionals in relation to service enquiries and rota management.

The post holder will be responsible for the accurate and timely inputting into the DRS rota system and E rostering system.

To work with the designated Associate Medical Dean and oversee the coordination of undergraduate placements to support the department and achieve all quality metrics for education delivery.

You must have a minimum HNC or HND in Office Adminstration or equivalent experience.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
