Position Overview

We are looking for a Critical Facilities Technician who knows what best-in-class service looks like and can make that a reality. This role is an important member of our facilities team where we manage some of the most efficient and cost-effective data center facilities in the industry.

The successful candidate for this role will work with a team of other electrical and mechanical-focused engineers performing maintenance and repair for our data center infrastructure. We take our customer requirements for uptime seriously and keep our facilities maintained to a very high standard to ensure uninterrupted service for our customers.

Essential Job Functions

Ensure the completion of the maintenance activities to the highest quality level of planification, preparation, execution, and reporting Ensure the full reliability of the infrastructures with a focus on continuity of services, energy efficiency, and budgetary constraints Use the BMS (Backup Management System) and all available systems and do regular walkthroughs to keep up to date with the appropriate monitoring on-site

Duties

In close collaboration with the contractors, participate in the drafting of the preventive maintenance schedule for the site infrastructures and implement it in collaboration with all service providers concerned. Closely monitor the operations with a continuous concern for minimizing risks during interventions, and ensure the reporting of this activity Participate in the implementation of the site-specific crisis management plan and in the tests and implementation exercises concerning this plan Within applicable and authorized interventions according to the local regulation and the up-to-date certification(s) of the CFT, be capable of manipulating/activating certain electrical and or mechanical and or security infrastructures to protect people and property and/or maintain service continuity on the site Monitor the capacities of the infrastructure equipment very closely at their different levels and their load of use/demand, and report back to the Site Manager Anticipate the impact of the future development of customer loads on these infrastructures by implementing warning thresholds and also by investigating technical solutions to reinforce the infrastructures (technical feasibility, design choices, budgetary allowance, etc.) and/or their level of redundancy According to the Site Manager's instructions, carry out this infrastructure reinforcement analysis well in advance (utilizing studies, quotations for implementation, project schedule, risk analysis, operating instructions, etc.) Participate with the construction team to any site construction phase including the commissioning, and specifically to ensure service continuity to the customers Actively contribute to all improvement actions in the site PUE Proactively raise awareness of the need to increase the power level that is contractually agreed upon with the energy provider Develop energy quality indicators as provided on behalf of infrastructures, by keeping appropriate records Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness by adapting the ad-hoc services Beyond the context of the technical infrastructures of the Data Centre area, manage all services/suppliers concerned and the external appearance of the building, working in coordination with its owner’s technical /operational departments With the assistance of the IT and Controls departments, ensure the proper operation of the site’s BMS Ensure that resources allow the infrastructure monitoring and efficient usage at all times Support and monitor the maintenance service providers daily and keep up to date with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) per VANTAGE’s requirements Participate in regular audits which are designed to assess the level of service continuity and analyse risks Implement improvement plans arising from diverse data center operation activities and observations

Job Requirements

Technical training (advanced technician or engineer level) in one of the following fields: electricity (electric generators, UPS, low-voltage distribution), air conditioning, fire and physical safety and security (access control, video and anti-intrusion systems), or centralized building management systems Data Center experience, ideally in data center operations or similar mission-critical environments. Demonstrate knowledge in operating, maintaining, repairing, inspecting, and testing critical electrical distribution systems, HVAC systems, and building management/automation equipment Technical versatility Supervision of Level II, III, and IV maintenance work on the site infrastructure Reactivation of circuit breakers in low-voltage electrical equipment Supervision of preventive and corrective maintenance activities Readings and measurements on equipment Good communication skills with third parties and internal customers Ability to demonstrate a proactive approach and the capacity to generate new ideas Highly motivated at problem-solving Attention to detail and a genuine commitment to following up on actions Good writing skills Everyday use of standard office equipment Proven skills in the use of software, such as BMS, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, and MS Project Candidates must possess reliable transportation for reporting to work for shifts, or emergencies Travel is expected to be less than 5%, occasionally for training purposes English language minimum level B2
