Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to support and lead a team in both an exciting new elective Orthopaedic Hub as well as trauma patients in an Inpatient setting.

You will manage your own and support others with a complex caseload and t here will be opportunities for working in Outpatients both in a group and individual Clinic setting.

The role involves close working with the MDT as well as senior leaders in Division A. There will also be close working with senior leadership in Occupational Therapy with the opportunity to deliver the OT strategy and vision.

The Occupational Therapy department offers opportunities to take part in a research symposium and opportunities for innovation in an ever changing environment.

There are ample leadership development opportunities. You willsupervise and appraise members of the team and support the development of junior staff.

Main duties of the job

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with highly developed clinical skills, particularly in Trauma and Orthopaedics.

You will undertake a Team Leader role including initiating, planning, implementing and leading the service developments in the elective orthopaedic setting as well as trauma on a day-to-day basis.

You will have advanced communication skills and an ability to support patients with the complexities of their conditions including advanced moving and handling skills.

You will provide occupational therapy to patients working autonomously and without direct supervision.

You will ensure safe and effective delivery of occupational therapy and work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary and agency teams and the Professional Lead and Operational Manager in Occupational Therapy.

You will also work closely with the Divisions to reduce length of stay and readmission rates.

Essential

Occupational Therapist registered with Health and Social Care Professions Council Degree or Diploma of Occupational Therapy Fieldwork educators certificate or equivalent Evidence of relevant in line with HCPC guidelines

Desirable

Member of Evidence of further study / research in clinical specialty Member of relevant Special Interest Group / Specialist section Evidence of management /leadership training Working to a level of expertise, knowledge and judgement commensurate with MSc
