Post 2: commencing 05 August 2026 for 12 months

Interviews for this post will be held on 13th September 2024.

Main duties of the job Orthopaedic Trauma surgery in Cambridge has seen a dramatic change in the last few years, with the development of Cambridge as the Level 1 trauma centre for East Anglia. A full range of Orthopaedic Trauma is covered, including pelvic and acetabular trauma, complex periarticular fractures, as well as non-union, deformity and bone infection surgery.

We accept tertiary referrals for all types of complex fractures, including open fractures, and have a good relationship with the plastic surgical directorate.

There will be no routine on call duties. At least 2 full days will be in the Orthopaedic Trauma Theatre, and 1 day in fracture clinic. A session or 2 of lower limb arthroplasty will also be part of the timetable. Friday mornings are devoted to the Orthopaedic Trauma Unit 'Grand round' where all the week's complex cases are discussed, as well as being part of an ongoing trauma teaching programme. The fellow will be expected to play an active role in this teaching, as well as junior teaching sessions. Currently this post is not recognised for training, as approval has not yet been agreed by the JCCST.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.

In order to be considered applicants must meet the essential criteria in the person specification.
