An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a dedicated Band 6 Lead Physiotherapist within our Trauma and Orthopaedics department. We are looking for a forward-thinking professional to become part of our team. You will collaborate within a large, supportive, and committed Physiotherapy group. This role offers substantial opportunities to enhance your leadership, mentorship, and supervisory capabilities.
The Trauma and Orthopaedics Physiotherapy department includes:
- Planned surgical procedures such as total joint replacements, shoulder surgeries, and various day case interventions.
- Management of complex trauma cases, including pelvic fractures and injuries to peripheral joints.
- Support for Satellite Day Surgery Units.
- Comprehensive 7-day service covering Trauma and Orthopaedic wards.
- Twilight shifts aimed at improving recovery for post-operative patients and facilitating same-day discharges.
Your role will involve collaborating closely with the Senior Team within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy department and the multidisciplinary team to provide a high-quality clinical service with a strong emphasis on service enhancement and development. You will receive robust support in acquiring new skills, advancing your career, and implementing innovative practices.
Main Responsibilities
Deliver a high-quality Physiotherapy service to Trauma and Orthopaedic patients in designated areas.
Enhance your skills in managing caseloads, conducting service development audits, and overseeing staff.
Act as a deputy for the Band 7 Team Lead, developing team management skills while handling a complex patient caseload.

Job Responsibilities
Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves as a Major Trauma Centre. Our Physiotherapy Department consists of 200 professionals. As a large teaching hospital, we emphasize continuous development and training, alongside research initiatives. Qualifications
Essential:
- Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy (or equivalent).
- HCPC State Registration.
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate education or continuing professional development.
Desirable:
- Membership in a professional body, such as The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
- MSc or postgraduate research qualification.
Experience
Essential:
- Experience as a Band 5 in various specialties, including Respiratory, Elderly Care, Neurological, and Musculoskeletal conditions.
- Experience working as part of a Physiotherapy team and/or multidisciplinary team.
- Contributing to the clinical education of less experienced staff or assistants.
- Experience leading audits, service evaluations, or research projects.
Desirable:
- Band 6 experience.
- Experience supervising students.
- Experience in community settings.
- Experience presenting at academic conferences.
- Experience in publishing and presenting audits, service evaluations, or research.
Knowledge
Essential:
- Strong knowledge of Orthopaedics and neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy management.
- Understanding of research basics and evidence-based methodologies.
Desirable:
- Good knowledge of community and primary care operations.
Skills
Essential:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to personal and team development.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own caseload.
