About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and team-oriented individual to join our Haematology Department as a Medical Secretary. This is a part-time position, working Monday to Friday, and requires a high level of commitment and a positive attitude to ensure the efficient management of the haematology office.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the consultants, Anticoagulant Specialists, and Haematology Nurse.
  • Deal with telephone and personal enquiries from patients, GPs, other health professionals, etc, exercising independent judgment and initiative, giving information and non-clinical advice, and ensuring accurate messages are conveyed and appropriate action taken.
  • Give out Pathology results from the ICE system to GPs, Consultants, and other medical Professionals.
  • Manage Haematology Generic Emails, Electronic Referral System (eRS) waiting list functions, providing the consultants with appropriate information regarding referrals and appointments.
  • Prioritise workload under the direction of the office manager and in the absence of other team members, to provide cover for essential tasks.

Requirements

  • AMSPAR or equivalent level of knowledge.
  • RSA III or equivalent experience in same field.
  • English language GCSE or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
