**About the Role**:
Bennetts End Surgery has an opportunity for a patient referral administrator to join our busy practice support team, on a full-time basis for 37.5 hours per week, to cover maternity leave for up to 12 months.

The successful applicant will be responsible for co-ordinating and managing patient referrals to other clinical services as requested by the clinical team. The post holder will be required to provide comprehensive, professional, and effective secretarial and administrative cover. The post holder will have direct contact with patients both face-to-face and over the telephone. To be highly skilled and experienced in a full range of secretarial work practices with a proficient use of Microsoft software packages to present accurate reports and correspondence.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

- To co-ordinate referrals to clinical services within a given timeframe utilising e-referral systems.
- To scan and code clinical documents.
- To produce communications and process letters via the digital dictation system.
- To record and maintain accurate notes for internal meetings as required.
- To contribute to the facilitation of the in-house compliments and complaints process.
- To Monitor and order stationery and medical supplies as requested.
- To Maintain registers held by the practice.
- To work in accordance with the Practice’s procedures and protocols, keeping accurate records of all patient interaction and demonstrating a clear commitment to attention to detail and quality.
- To understand the common needs and safeguarding issues of vulnerable patient groups and respond appropriately.
- To understand and work in accordance with the legal, statutory, ethical, and regulatory responsibilities of the Practice and the NHS.
- To participate in continuous professional development and thereby contribute to quality improvement across the Practice.
- To undertake ad hoc administrative tasks as requested by the Management team and Partners that assist in the smooth running of the surgery.
- Experienced medical administrators, with excellent IT and typing skills;
- Adaptable and friendly, with strong administration, time management and organisational skills;
- Excellent communicators able to work in a confidential and discreet manner;
- Able to "think on their feet" in a busy working environment;
- Able to multi-task, work hard and maintain a high level of attention to detail, when under pressure;
- Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as comfortable working independently.

Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

**About Us**:
Bennetts End Surgery is a large GP practice in Hemel Hempstead looking after 17,000 patients. We are a forward thinking training practice situated in a purpose built surgery with 25 consulting rooms where we offer a full range of clinical services to the patients we serve, the building also houses a 100 hour pharmacy and MASTA (travel) clinic.

It is the overall objective of the Bennetts End Surgery team to provide its patients with optimal primary care. The purpose of each team member is therefore to ensure that they perform their role in such a way as to ensure that all patients receive a high quality of service.
