Job Overview
The Children’s Community Nursing Team at The Moor Lane Centre in Chessington provides specialized nursing care to children with SEND in Dysart and Bedelsford special schools, at home, and within community services.
About the Role
We are seeking enthusiastic nurses to work flexibly across the community and in our special schools. As a specialist nurse, you will deliver holistic, family-centered care for children and young people with complex health needs and disabilities.
- Conduct clinical assessments and develop personalized care plans.
- Administer medication, suctioning, tracheostomy care, gastrostomy management, enteral feeding, seizure management, and other specialized treatments as needed.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to families, signposting them to relevant resources and services.
- Develop and deliver training programs for families and caregivers on various aspects of care and management.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, including child protection conferences.
- Offer health advice and contribute to Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plans.
- Operate the nursing sleep service, addressing sleep difficulties in children and offering strategies and support to parents.
- Mentor, supervise, and coach junior staff and student nurses.

Your Background
- RGN or RSCN registration with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in nursing.
- Proven experience working with children and young people with disabilities and complex health needs.
- Familiarity with statutory legislation and national policy drivers affecting children’s services.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
- Safeguarding knowledge and experience.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a car for work purposes.
