Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Fuel Engineer to join our team at Holtec International. This role will involve advanced technical and engineering problem-solving in support of nuclear fuel and plant operations.

About the Role

This position requires a motivated individual with strong analytical skills and a willingness to work on a wide range of technical topics. The ideal candidate will have experience in nuclear fuels engineering, computer code development, and safety analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and implement nuclear fuels engineering analysis, activities, and programs.
  • Design, modeling, and analyses of the nuclear core and fuel system using engineering computer codes, empirical methods, and first principle methods.
  • Perform calculations to confirm safe plant operation by validating fuel rods' thermo-mechanical properties and providing initial conditions as input to downstream safety analyses.
  • Participate in meetings with clients, collaborators, and regulatory bodies, including the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the nuclear industry or relevant fields.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and proficiency with nuclear fuel performance or structural analysis software.
  • General knowledge of nuclear fuels and power plant operations/physics.

Salary

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
