Based in the UK, we are a leading research facility for nuclear fission. Our team is looking for an experienced Nuclear Reactor Physicist Leader to join our ranks.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled professional with expertise in reactor physics and a strong background in advanced nuclear technologies. The successful candidate will lead projects related to Gen IV reactors and ANT, applying neutronics and reactor physics concepts to analyze problems.

The role involves technical oversight of projects or programs to customer requirements, work package scoping and delivery of significant technical programs and projects. We expect the candidate to have demonstrable evidence of providing technical advice to customers in the area of reactor physics. Additionally, experience in using nuclear codes such as neutronics codes (e.g. Monte Carlo methods) is desirable.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leading significant national/international customer Science and Technology (S&T) programmes related to reactor physics, reactor technology or related disciplines.
  • Performing duties of a cross-discipline technical lead and subject matter expert on projects in the area of reactor physics or fields related to the role.
  • Supporting development and progression of capability strategy for reactor physics.
  • Delivery of technical work to high quality including authoring, checking and approval of technical calculations, documents and presenting work performed to customers, at international conferences, or project meetings.
Requirements:

A relevant scientific, mathematics or engineering degree combined with significant experience in the nuclear industry is essential. Comprehensive knowledge of Gen IV Reactors and Advanced Nuclear Technologies (ANT) and demonstrated expertise in applying neutronics and reactor physics concepts to the analysis of problems are also required. The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude towards Health & Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality requirements.

Salary:

The salary range for this position is approximately £60,000-£80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
