About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Metallography Expert to join our team at National Nuclear Laboratory.

This role will play a vital part in our Fuel Reactor & Recycling capability, focusing on the Post Irradiation Examination (PIE) of nuclear fuels once they reach the end of their lifespan.

As a PIE Specialist, you will work at our Active Handling Facility (AHF), utilizing remote handling skills to facilitate analysis of nuclear materials.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Prepare high-quality metallographic samples for examination.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Keep detailed records of experimental data.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety, Quality and Security requirements.
  • Provide support to equipment maintenance and modification.
  • Deliver work to time, cost, and quality.
  • Uphold high technical quality standards.
  • Obtain SC level security clearance.
