About the Role

This Safety and Security Expert position at National Nuclear Laboratory requires a strong background in radiation protection and a proven track record of ensuring the safety of individuals and communities. The ideal candidate will possess a City and Guilds Level 1 in Radiation Protection or NVQ Level 2 in Radiation Protection, as well as relevant experience working in a Nuclear facility.

Key responsibilities include providing expert advice on radiological protection, producing clear reports and data, collaborating with specialists, and implementing advice to achieve suitable solutions. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain high standards by attending training courses and provide an emergency response for Health Physics matters.

Salary: £36,715 - £38,771 dependent on qualifications and experience.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert advice on radiological protection and refer upwards when necessary.
  • Produce clear reports, presentations, and data to support management decisions.
  • Work with specialists to share findings and identify trends.
  • Ensure that specialist advice is proportionate and compliant with NNL and external requirements.
  • Implement advice provided to ensure a suitable solution.
  • Attend training courses to maintain high standards.
  • Provide an emergency response for Health Physics matters.
  • Report any issues or behaviours causing concern in the workplace.
