National Nuclear Laboratory: A Career in Advanced Nuclear Technologies

Join National Nuclear Laboratory as a Principal Reactor Physicist and contribute to the development of cutting-edge nuclear technologies. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead projects and teams, providing technical expertise and guidance on reactor physics and related disciplines.

Estimated Salary: £80,000 - £120,000 per annum

The successful candidate will have a strong background in reactor physics, with experience in neutronics codes and reactor design. They will be responsible for initiating and leading customer programs, supporting the development of capability strategies, and delivering technical work to high-quality standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead significant customer programs related to reactor physics and technology
  • Perform cross-discipline technical lead roles and subject matter expert duties
  • Support capability strategy development and delivery
  • Lead and deliver projects to time, budget, and quality standards
  • Author and present technical calculations, documents, and presentations
  • Carry out neutronics and reactor physics calculations using recognized code packages

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant degree and experience in nuclear industry
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Gen IV reactors and ANT
  • Technical oversight of projects and programs
  • Work package scoping and delivery
  • Demonstrable evidence of providing technical advice to customers
