About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Medical Secretary to provide administrative support to our Orthodontic Department. The successful candidate will have a medical secretarial background and excellent communication skills, enabling them to work effectively with clinicians and patients.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide full secretarial and administrative support to the Orthodontic Department, including managing patient pathways and ensuring all targets are met.
  • Work flexibly and sensitively with other disciplines, both on and off the QVH site, to provide and receive confidential and sensitive information.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and staff, and respond to requests from the Patient Access team.
  • Manage patient expectations, book appointments, and monitor clinics to ensure they are fully utilized.
  • Develop and maintain a sound knowledge of medical terminology, tests, symptoms, and procedures.

Person Specification

  • Secondary education to GCSE level, including English and Maths.
  • NVQ level 3 in administration or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in secretarial/administration, preferably in a medical setting.
  • Aware of confidentiality and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
