We are seeking a highly organized and resourceful Scheduler to join our Plastics Surgery Department team at NHS.

Main Duties

As a Scheduler, you will be responsible for efficiently managing available theatre capacity against waiting lists in line with RTT/Cancer wait times and NHS targets.

  • Ensure accurate recording of surgical outcomes, including attendance, did not attends (DNAs), and pathway status on Patient Centre (PC) in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Manage patient cancellations and DNAs in accordance with the Trust's Waiting List Policy.
  • Input correct data on PC for waiting lists, pre-admission, and arrange theatre list orders considering patients', clinical, medical, case type, equipment, and medical staffing availability.
  • Liaise with Team Leader to cover theatre lists, urgent cases, and trauma, and advise relevant persons of cancellations and alterations as necessary.
  • Monitor RTT 18 targets and amend appointments when necessary, ensuring proactive management of breaching patients.
  • Develop a sound knowledge of medical terminology relating to Plastic Surgery and attend relevant training sessions.
  • Organize patient transport, assess eligibility, and deal with telephone calls promptly and courteously.
  • Manage, supervise, and support Band 3 Support Secretaries, volunteers, and bank staff, including daily work allocation, training, and checking work as necessary.
Person Specification
  • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent knowledge through practical experience.
  • Awareness of patient confidentiality and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
  • Previous administration experience.
