Mechanical Engineer for Nuclear Fusion Project

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at UKAEA, working on exciting projects related to nuclear fusion.
**Salary:** £32,729 per annum
Job OverviewThis role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to the development of cutting-edge technologies for fusion energy production.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of engineering tasks, including design, analysis, and project management, as part of our Integrated Engineering Division.
This division provides mechanical engineering capabilities to various UKAEA programmes, including the Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP), Materials Research Facility (MRF), and others.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop skills and knowledge through various roles on multiple programmes (~3-6 month rotations)
- Contribute to concept and design development, analysis and qualification, procurement and manufacture, product realization and testing
- Manage discrete packages of work, operate and/or repair existing equipment, ensure compliance with welding inspection standards
- Relevant degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
