About the Role

This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of services and R&D provided by the RADLab (Radiological Assay and Detection Lab) through deployment of nuclear diagnostics (gamma or neutron detectors) to gather and analyse data, and to support the maintenance and development of nuclear diagnostics for the realisation of fusion power plants.

Job Description

The Fusion Technology Division (FTD) is at the forefront of developing and qualifying fusion device equipment for service in commercial fusion power plants. As a Graduate Experimental Nuclear Physicist, you will work closely with our team to develop knowledge and understanding of fusion relevant topics and apply this learning to assigned projects. You will also liaise with other teams and groups to build networks and ensure effective collaboration.

  • Developing and maintaining nuclear diagnostics for fusion power plants.
  • Conducting experiments and gathering data using gamma or neutron detectors.
  • Analyzing data and contributing to the development of new technologies.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrable ability to question existing scientific models.
  • Excellent planning, organising and time management skills.
  • Discreet and professional approach to technical or scientific activities.
  • IT literacy, including Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel and SharePoint).
