About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our team as Clinical Lead for Palliative Care at East Lancashire Hospice. As a key member of our senior management team, you will be responsible for the clinical leadership and management of our hospice community specialist nursing team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the development and delivery of our palliative care service, ensuring high-quality evidence-based care is delivered with compassion and dignity to patients and their families.
  • Provide clinical leadership, caseload management, and coordination to ensure the effective delivery of our service.
  • Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team and external partners to promote awareness of and access to our services, reducing the fear associated with death and dying.
  • Develop and maintain effective systems to respond to referrals in a timely manner, ensuring delegation takes account of the capacity and capability of team members.
  • Lead on non-medical prescribing within the team, including the development, implementation, and review of NMP policy and procedures.
  • Take a lead on specific projects and work collaboratively with others to contribute to the delivery of our hospice strategic objectives, governance agenda, and local initiatives to improve specialist and supportive palliative care.
Requirements
  • Current interventions and strategies for palliative care.
  • Knowledge of national and local drivers and developments within palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Substantial post-registration experience in palliative care.
  • Leadership and management qualifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively time manage and plan, prioritise, and coordinate workload.
  • Leadership skills and qualities, with the ability to work as part of a rota over 7 days and contribute to the on-call rota.
