Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity to join the experienced CAS Division at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trusts, delivering high-quality administrative support for the Haematology department.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage the day case waiting lists in accordance with Trust waiting list targets, and handle associated queries.
  • Ensure patients are added to the correct waiting lists using hospital standard operating procedures, Medway PAS.
  • Work to agreed protocols to negotiate patient admissions for day case procedures.
  • Provide confirmation of TCI to patients, along with relevant supporting information.
  • Ensure all relevant patient information is recorded on the Trust's IT systems and updated accordingly in line with Trust Access Policy and Procedures.
  • Produce admission lists for nurses.
  • Act as the first point of contact within the Trust for patients who have enquiries regarding admission details and waiting list queries.
  • Ensure adherence to the Trust Waiting List Policy with regard to National and Trust Targets for waiting times.
  • Provide non-clinical advice regarding hospital admission to patients seeking further advice from Consultants or lead nurses as required.
  • Be responsible for adherence to the Trust Access Policy with regard to National and Trust Targets for waiting times.
  • Liaise with clinical staff to ensure the availability of any specialist equipment as required.
  • Work flexibly and provide cross-cover for colleagues in the Directorate.
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities, which may reasonably be required.
Person Specification
  • GCSE Level or equivalent standard in Maths/English.
  • Experience of hospital systems such as MEDWAY NOTIS, Medical Office, and Bookwise.
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
  • Recent Administration experience.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Competent computer skills.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Recent NHS experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of waiting list processes.
  • Willing and able to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and use own initiative.
  • Ability to communicate verbally in a clear and effective way both face-to-face and on the telephone.
  • Works within prescribed deadlines.
  • Consistently works to high standards.
  • Demonstrates an ability to organise own work schedule.
  • Frequent use of VDU equipment.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of the importance of prompt timekeeping and good attendance at the workplace.
  • Remains calm and co-operative under pressure or in difficult and uncertain situations.
