About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Philanthropy to join our team at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our fundraising team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive philanthropy strategy to drive income from major donors, trusts, foundations, and corporate partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead a philanthropy strategy to grow income from major donors, corporate partners, and foundations.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with high-value supporters, including major donors and corporate partners, to secure six- and seven-figure gifts.
  • Collaborate across teams to translate our impactful work into compelling cases for support, ensuring our projects resonate with potential funders.
  • Lead a robust donor stewardship programme, ensuring high-value donors receive the attention and communication they need.
  • Manage a high-performing team, including the Trusts Foundations & Statutory Officer, to ensure they have the resources to excel in their roles and contribute to our charity's success.

Person Specification
  • Masters level education or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of commitment to continuous learning and development and a comprehensive professional knowledge across a range of specialities including financial management, strategic development, fundraising / income generation acquired through training and experience over extensive period.
  • Demonstrable experience working in fundraising for Research, Health or charitable institutions, with securing and delivering high five to seven figure gifts/partnerships both within UK and Internationally from either trust, individuals or companies.
  • Ability to influence senior decision-makers internally and externally in philanthropic organisations; as well as wealthy individuals to ask/ negotiate for major gifts.
