Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lead Community Care Coordinator to join our team at PSM Recruitment Ltd.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional care and support to students in a local school in Dover, ensuring their welfare and needs are met.

This is a dynamic role that requires strong organisational skills, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively as part of a team, exercise initiative and judgement, and adapt to changing circumstances.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Liaise with Housemasters/Mistresses to ensure they are fully briefed on events and developments during the day, and consulted on major issues concerning the health, welfare, and well-being of students.
  2. Supervise students during working hours, promoting personal cleanliness and appearance, completing house duties, and treating each other with respect and punctuality.
  3. Provide individual attention and support to students according to their needs, settling disputes amicably, and offering sympathy and comfort when required.
  4. Accompany students to meals and supervise them, as needed, adhering to house requirements.
  5. Support Tutors and House Parents by liaising with teaching staff and informing the House Parent about student progress.
  6. Administer medication, provide basic first aid, and refer students to the Medical Centre as necessary.
  7. Conduct regular checks on the fabric of the house, requisitioning repairs or replacements through Facilities Management as appropriate.
  8. Work additional shifts for absent colleagues, upon consultation with HR.
  9. Organise and run social, sporting, or other activities for students in the house, under the guidance of the House Parent.
Person Specification
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Basic ICT skills for recording and monitoring students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • A good basic level of education up to GCSE/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with students in a professional setting.
  • First Aid qualifications (opportunities available in post).
Salary and Benefits

The starting salary is £17,660 per annum, including holiday pay based on 40 weeks of the year.
