Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Development Manager to join our team at Somerset House. As a key member of our Residents Team, you will be responsible for leading sales across our workspaces, focusing on dedicated offices and shared workspace.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Sales and Business Development: Lead in selling workspaces, specifically dedicated offices and shared workspace across the Estate, helping to grow the community and deliver budgeted income levels.
  2. Creative Network Building: Use creative and cultural networks to identify and target potential residents and members who meet our agreed criteria, are commercially attractive, and are aligned to our community, diversity and charitable objectives.
  3. Workspace Management: Participate in reviewing workspace applications, ensuring all applications fit our criteria to be a resident, particularly adding to the mix of creative businesses in the community.
  4. Relationship Building: Build relationships with new and existing residents, considering how each organisation can best contribute to Somerset House's creative purpose.
  5. Space Planning: Work with Senior Residents Manager to plan how to best support existing residents' changing space requirements.
  6. Marketing and Communications: Collaborate with the Residents Communications Manager and Marketing Teams to improve our online presence and ensure we are reaching target groups.
  7. Workspace Development: Support the Residents team in developing our workspace offering to reflect Somerset House as the home of cultural innovation.
  8. Community Ambassador: Act as an ambassador for the Trust and advocate for the community and its aims.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Commercial Awareness: Experience in selling workspace and achieving sales targets, ideally within a creative community or similar workspace.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build and manage long-term relationships with clients.
  • Networking: Ability to build strong external networks.
  • Commercial Skills: Commercial awareness and ability to maximise revenue streams.
