Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Safety to join our team. As a key member of our Radiation Safety Section, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe use of ionising radiation in our Trust.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in CT optimization and evaluation, as well as providing radiation safety advice in radiology. They will also have experience in managing and supervising staff, and be able to understand and operate a wide range of diagnostic imaging equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in radiation and imaging physics as applied in medicine, as well as knowledge of radiation protection legislation in healthcare and biomedical research. They will also have a BSc (Hons) Physics or equivalent, an MSc in Radiation Physics or equivalent experience, and be HCPC registered as a Clinical Scientist.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as an appointed Radiation Protection Adviser and Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology for the Trust and for outside contracts.
  • Assist with the management and provision of radiation safety advice and services for all uses of ionising radiation in the Trust.
  • Provide diagnostic radiology physics support to the Trust and to other organisations who have contracts with Clinical Physics.
