Job Summary
Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly experienced Radiation Safety Specialist to lead the Radiation Safety services. The successful candidate will act as an appointed Radiation Protection Adviser and Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology for the Trust and for outside contracts.
Main Responsibilities
The Radiation Safety Specialist will be responsible for managing the patient dosimetry service provided by Radiation Safety across all sites, and assisting with the management and provision of radiation safety advice and services for all uses of ionising radiation in the Trust.
Key Requirements
- Experience as an RPA and Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology
- Experience in patient dosimetry and use of patient dose management systems
- Experience of managing and supervising staff
- Able to understand and operate a wide range of diagnostic imaging equipment
- Able to analyse complex data and interpret and apply relevant guidance and legislation
- Specialist knowledge in radiation and imaging physics as applied in medicine
- Specialist knowledge of radiation protection legislation in healthcare and biomedical research
- Knowledge of patient dosimetry techniques and software
- Registered Clinical Scientist and certificated MPE
- RPA certificate of competence or ability to submit within 6 months of taking up post
