About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Scientist to join our Radiation Safety team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a Radiation Safety Physicist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of radiation in our diagnostic radiology services.

Key Responsibilities

As a Radiation Safety Physicist, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out X-ray status testing on a range of X-ray imaging systems, including CT scanners and mammography X-ray systems.
  • Supporting the quality assurance and optimisation of diagnostic radiology systems.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary optimisation working groups and setting up procedures for utilising dose management systems.
  • Providing advice on equipment purchasing decisions and assisting with the preparation of dose reports for ethics submissions.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of radioactive substance records and performing lab audits.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A current state registration as a Clinical Scientist in the UK.
  • A good honours degree in a relevant subject and a relevant MSc or higher degree.
  • Basic knowledge across a range of medical X-ray imaging system status testing.
  • Experience of testing and optimising for patient use advanced X-ray imaging systems.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, national standards, professional and other guidelines.
