About the Role

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly experienced Radiation Safety Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Radiation Safety Section, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe use of ionising radiation in our diagnostic radiology services.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in radiation protection and medical physics, with experience in patient dosimetry and the management of radiation safety services. You will be able to provide expert advice and guidance to our staff and stakeholders, and will be responsible for the development and implementation of our radiation safety policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as an appointed Radiation Protection Adviser and Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology for the Trust and for outside contracts.
  • Assist with the management and provision of radiation safety advice and services for all uses of ionising radiation in the Trust.
  • Manage the patient dosimetry service provided by Radiation Safety across all sites.
  • Work closely with the site leadership team and the Head of Radiation Safety on the radiation protection programme.
Requirements
  • Experience to act as an RPA and Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Experience in patient dosimetry and the use of patient dose management systems.
  • Experience of managing and supervising staff.
  • Able to understand and operate a wide range of diagnostic imaging equipment.
  • Able to analyse complex data and interpret and apply relevant guidance and legislation.
