Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Radiation Safety Site lead to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology, you will be responsible for providing radiation safety advice and services for all uses of ionising radiation in the Trust.

The successful candidate will have experience in patient dosimetry and the use of patient dose management systems, as well as experience in managing and supervising staff. You will also be able to understand and operate a wide range of diagnostic imaging equipment, analyse complex data, and interpret and apply relevant guidance and legislation.

Main Responsibilities

As a Radiation Protection Adviser and Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology, you will be responsible for:

  • Acting as an appointed Radiation Protection Adviser and Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology for the Trust and for outside contracts
  • Assisting with the management and provision of radiation safety advice and services for all uses of ionising radiation in the Trust
  • Managing the patient dosimetry service provided by Radiation Safety across all sites

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • A BSc (Hons) Physics or equivalent
  • An MSc in Radiation Physics or equivalent experience
  • Registration as a Clinical Scientist
  • Certification as a Medical Physics Expert
  • An RPA certificate of competence or the ability to submit an application within 6 months of taking up post
