About the Role

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Radiation Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Radiation Safety Section, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe use of ionising radiation in our Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a Radiation Protection Adviser and Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology for the Trust and for outside contracts, as required under The Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 and The Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2017 respectively.
  • Assist with the management and provision of radiation safety advice and services for all uses of ionising radiation in the Trust and diagnostic radiology physics support to the Trust and to other organisations who have contracts with Clinical Physics.
  • Act as the Radiation Safety lead RPA/MPE for the Mile End Community Diagnostic Centre.
  • Work with the CDC management team to ensure a governance and quality assurance structure for radiation safety and diagnostic radiology physics is in place.
  • Train physics staff in CT performance evaluation.
Requirements
  • Experience to act as a Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Experience of providing radiation safety advice in radiology.
  • Able to analyse complex data.
  • Specialist knowledge (MPE level) in radiation and imaging physics as applied in medicine.
  • Specialist knowledge of radiation protection legislation in healthcare and biomedical research.
  • Knowledge of patient dosimetry techniques and software.
  • BSc (Hons) Physics or equivalent.
  • MSc in Radiation Physics or equivalent experience.
