Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist to join their team in General Adult Psychiatry.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a full-time specialist post in General adult psychiatry on male and female general adult wards. As a Mental Health Specialist, you will work closely with the medical team to provide high-quality care to patients.

The successful candidate will be required to have foundation level experience and ideally some experience working in psychiatry. Although this is a non-training post, the selected individual will be assigned a consultant educational supervisor and encouraged to maintain an educational portfolio with appropriate assessments.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct clerking of new admissions (history and physical examination)
  • Take bloods and interpret results, acting upon abnormal bloods
  • Interpret ECGs and take necessary action, such as reporting prolonged QTc to consultants or discussing with cardiology
  • Phone relatives to gain collateral history
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of medical students
  • Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team working, including attending morning meetings

Estimated Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience. We are committed to offering competitive salaries and benefits packages to our employees.
