About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a dedicated GCSE English teacher to join our team in supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated conditions.

This role involves teaching GCSE English in a supportive environment with small class sizes and the assistance of up to two teaching assistants.

We provide a nurturing space for pupils with SEMH needs, including diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Attachment Needs. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching: Deliver engaging and high-quality GCSE English lessons within the national curriculum framework.
  • Pupil Support: Adapt teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each pupil, promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teaching assistants to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor and report on pupil progress, addressing any concerns and celebrating achievements.
  • School Activities: Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including extracurricular events and school trips.
  • Pupil Relationships: Build positive relationships with pupils to foster engagement and success in learning.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree-level education.
  • Experience: Proven experience teaching GCSE English at the secondary level.
  • Special Education Experience: Experience working with pupils with SEMH or additional needs in an educational setting.
  • Professional Development: Commitment to continuous professional development.
