Supporting Pupils with SEMH Needs

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant-English to join our team in the East Midlands and make a significant contribution to the growth and development of our new provision.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching assistance, with experience of working with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. They will be responsible for mentoring and supporting one pupil or a small group of up to six pupils, reporting on their progress and concerns, and liaising with other school staff to ensure their needs are met.
This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced teaching assistants to further develop their skills in the classroom while also giving them the time and support to develop a key area of the school provision suited to their experience and interests. We offer a competitive salary of £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a range of benefits including company pension, life assurance, employee discount scheme, and opportunities for professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of up to six pupils
- Report on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaise with other school staff to ensure their needs are met
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
- Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant
- Confidence in working with pupils with SEMH needs
- Strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics
- Sound IT skills
