About the Job:We are seeking a skilled English teacher to join our team in supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated conditions.
This role involves teaching English in a supportive environment with small class sizes and the assistance of up to two teaching assistants.
We provide a nurturing space for pupils with SEMH needs, including diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Attachment Needs. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities:- Teaching: Deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons within the national curriculum framework.
- Pupil Support: Adapt teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each pupil, promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teaching assistants to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Progress Monitoring: Monitor and report on pupil progress, addressing any concerns and celebrating achievements.
- School Activities: Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including extracurricular events and school trips.
- Pupil Relationships: Build positive relationships with pupils to foster engagement and success in learning.
- Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree-level education.
- Experience: Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level.
- Special Education Experience: Experience working with pupils with SEMH or additional needs in an educational setting.
