About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Therapy Team at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. As a Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy staff in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with conditions such as Dementia, Parkinson's Disease, and Falls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with functional activities of daily living, including dressing/undressing, domestic activities, and supervising exercises.
  • Prepare patients for treatment and assist them to increase their independence using daily living aids.
  • Recognize the needs of patients during illness or disability and promote and encourage independence and restoration of function.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to gain informed consent to treatment and assess their understanding of treatment proposals.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive treatment notes in line with legal and departmental requirements.
Requirements
  • Experience working with the elderly in a community or care setting.
  • Basic IT skills and knowledge of manual handling skills.
  • Ability to communicate well with people and work within a team.
  • Awareness of patient confidentiality and ability to maintain a calm and confident approach.
