About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Compass, a leading provider of wellbeing, health, and early help services for children and young people.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality support to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties.

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will work closely with children, young people, and their families to provide evidence-based, therapy-informed interventions, including Low Intensity CBT.

You will also provide supervision to Emotional Wellbeing Practitioners and offer advice and consultation support to professionals and education staff within a defined locality.

We are looking for a candidate with a core MHP qualification relevant to mental health, postgraduate experience working with children and young people, and a strong understanding of the principles and practice of CBT and clinical supervision.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to network with other agencies, and demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality support to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties
  • Provide evidence-based, therapy-informed interventions, including Low Intensity CBT
  • Supervise Emotional Wellbeing Practitioners and offer advice and consultation support to professionals and education staff
  • Work closely with children, young people, and their families to provide a comprehensive service
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of service plans and strategies
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Core professional qualification relevant to mental health (e.g. CWP, IAPT, PMHW, nursing with specialism in mental health or learning disability nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work)
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Postgraduate experience working with children and young people
  • Strong understanding of the principles and practice of CBT and clinical supervision

We also welcome applications from candidates with teaching qualifications, Youth Mental Health First Aid training, and therapeutic postgraduate qualifications.
