Job Overview

A unique opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Transformation Unit as a Clinical Specialist in Neonatal Occupational Therapy.

This role will involve providing clinical leadership in the field of neonatal Occupational Therapy, promoting the highest standards of patient care throughout the speciality, in line with local and national standards, policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide clinical leadership in the field of neonatal Occupational Therapy across the acute sites of the Transformation Unit, promoting the highest standards of patient care throughout the speciality, in line with local and national standards, policies and procedures.
  • To support the parent-infant relationship, helping parents understand and respond to behavioural cues and signs of stress, helping infants to regulate their body systems and participate in co-occupations such as sleeping, feeding and early interaction.
  • The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team on the neonatal units including Nursing staff, medical team, other Allied Health Professionals and support staff.

  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate experience.
  • Evidence of training in neurodevelopment.
  • Evidence of a management training course.
  • Experience of working at band 6 level.
  • Experience of working with children with neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Experience of contributing or leading on audit/service development, service evaluation projects.
  • Evidence of interpreting data and using it to formulate action plans.
  • Evidence of writing reports to enable continuity of care both internally and externally.
  • Evidence of training and managing staff.
  • Evidence of working within policies and guidelines.
  • Evidence of using correct approaches when challenging inappropriate behaviour.
