About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our Therapy Team at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. As a Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy staff in delivering high-quality care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with functional activities of daily living, including dressing, undressing, and domestic activities.
  • Supervise exercises and prepare patients for treatment.
  • Assist patients to increase their independence by using daily living aids.
  • Recognize the need to refer back to the Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist, identifying contra-indications to treatment and signs of deterioration.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to gain informed consent to treatment.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date treatment notes in line with legal and departmental requirements.
Requirements
  • Experience working with the elderly in a community or care setting.
  • English and maths at GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Basic IT skills, flexible, and adaptable, with good time management.
  • Knowledge and experience of manual handling skills.
  • Ability to communicate well with people, work within a team, and maintain calm and confident approach.
