Job Overview

In this dynamic position, you will collaborate with a dedicated team on financial initiatives, including a thorough assessment of our funding strategies and system enhancements. Your role will involve supporting, analyzing, and communicating financial information from diverse sources.

Key Responsibilities

In this capacity, your duties will include:

  • Collaborating closely with the Revenue Team within Finance to generate monthly financial performance reports adhering to strict deadlines as outlined in the month-end schedule.
  • Offering financial assistance to the Commission's licence fee review workstream, ensuring precise financial forecasts underpin proposed licence fee modifications.
  • Conducting horizon scanning activities to track trends, themes, and policy changes that will influence income predictions and fee development.
  • Employing analytical and modeling capabilities to scrutinize financial data, presenting insights and guidance to relevant stakeholders (both internal and external) as necessary.
  • Establishing and nurturing positive relationships with internal stakeholders (including teams within the Gambling Commission) and external stakeholders (such as our sponsor body DCMS and other significant external contacts).
  • Providing financial support for the creation and execution of the Statutory Levy.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Proven experience in conducting and conveying analysis, interpreting financial data, and delivering valuable insights that inform risk-based decisions and challenge assumptions.
  • Experience in interpreting data and providing intelligence to aid in the development of both short-term and long-term strategic plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and enhance effective internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Significant experience in constructing, maintaining, and interpreting complex financial models (Excel).

Desirable:

  • Experience in a regulated sector, collaborating with a regulator or regulated entity, and familiarity with regulatory best practices.
  • Background in the public sector or experience working with central government.
  • Experience in building and interpreting reports using Power BI or similar tools.

Benefits

In addition to a competitive salary of £37,000, the Gambling Commission contributes £9,990 towards your membership in the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Other benefits include:

  • Salary of approximately £37,000
  • Civil service pension with an employer contribution rate of 27%
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Hybrid working options, with specific guidelines to be established with your line manager
  • 26 days of annual leave, increasing to 29 days after two years of service, with the option to purchase up to five additional days of leave
