Position Overview

This role presents an excellent opportunity to enhance your expertise and gain valuable experience within the field of Renal Transplantation. You will collaborate closely with patients throughout their Transplant journey, fulfilling a traditional nursing role that encompasses patient education and care coordination, while working alongside a dedicated team of Transplant nurses and Consultants. As we expand our post-transplant services, our goal is to provide accessible care to various regions, which may involve occasional travel.

You will be part of a well-supported team, receiving guidance from senior nursing staff and the Matron. Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities associated with this position should be executed in alignment with the competencies outlined in the KSF framework for this role. Additionally, all staff members are expected to embody the values and behaviors of the Trust.

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care to address the needs of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) who may have received a kidney or kidney/pancreas transplant, adhering to established local and national standards and evidence-based guidelines as part of the Renal Transplant Team.
  • Provide patient education and promote health awareness.
  • Oversee the delivery and coordination of care through appropriate professional practices, including the delegation and supervision of tasks performed by junior staff.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all care activities in a timely manner, complying with local and professional documentation standards.
  • Ensure that the care environment is safe, well-equipped, and meets hygiene and cleanliness standards.
  • Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of yourself, your team, and the organization.

Qualifications & Education

Essential

  • Valid NMC registration
  • Diploma in Nursing
  • NMC recognized mentorship qualification or a commitment to obtain one within 18 months of starting the position
  • Evidence of ongoing education or professional development

Desirable

  • Bachelor's degree

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrated clinical competence in the specialty of Renal/Transplant nursing
  • Awareness of evolving practices within nursing
  • Understanding of clinical governance and its relevance to practice
  • Familiarity with pertinent policies and procedures
  • Exhibited competency during internship

Desirable

  • Knowledge of ethical considerations
  • Understanding of leadership and management principles
  • Experience in research and development
  • Background in mentorship and the ability to identify learning and development needs
