Position Overview

The Senior Nephrology Consultant will provide comprehensive nephrology services to patients within our healthcare facilities. This role involves managing renal transplant follow-up consultations and performing essential renal procedures. The consultant will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to enhancing patient care across our specialized renal services.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field.
  • Facilitating the education and training of medical staff and students.
  • Contributing to both individual and joint research initiatives.

The successful candidate will establish a new follow-up clinic for post-transplant patients, ensuring high-quality care for individuals in the surrounding areas. Additionally, they will support existing transplant services to facilitate the transition of patients from other facilities.

On-Call Duties

This role includes participation in the on-call schedule, with potential opportunities for additional ward coverage based on the candidate's interests.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Full registration with the GMC.
  • Possession of MRCP or an equivalent qualification.
  • Completion of Nephrology SCE.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Renal Medicine and General Internal Medicine.

Desirable:

  • Advanced qualifications such as MA, MSc, or MD/PhD.

Experience Requirements

Essential:

  • Comprehensive training in Renal Medicine and General Internal Medicine.
  • Recent clinical experience with General Nephrology, Transplant, and Haemodialysis patients.
  • Proficiency in performing peritoneal dialysis catheter insertions and renal biopsies.

Desirable:

  • Experience in leading care initiatives for specific renal conditions.
  • Background in additional specialized areas that would enhance our services.
  • Experience as a Clinical or Educational Supervisor.
