Position Overview

Forbes Solicitors is seeking a qualified Solicitor/Associate to enhance our Commercial division, particularly focusing on our public sector clientele. This full-time position encompasses 36.25 hours per week, operating from Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering expert legal counsel and support to our clients in areas such as data protection, compliance, public procurement, contract negotiation, and regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities
The Solicitor will be accountable for achieving favorable outcomes, including:

  • Managing a diverse caseload with a strong emphasis on public sector matters, focusing on contract drafting, data protection law, and public procurement;
  • Providing comprehensive written and verbal legal advice;
  • Engaging with clients, opposing parties, courts, and third parties to facilitate case progression;
  • Assisting colleagues with their cases and contributing to departmental strategies and objectives;
  • Overseeing, mentoring, and training Paralegals/Legal Assistants to support their professional growth;
  • Ensuring compliance with internal and external standards, including quality control and legal conduct;
  • Monitoring personal financial performance to ensure profitable service delivery;
  • Participating in internal initiatives for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing;
  • Collaborating across departments on joint projects and files;
  • Contributing to the development of the departmental business strategy;
  • Fostering positive relationships with clients to enhance the firm's reputation and drive growth;
  • Engaging in business development activities, including training sessions, publications, and submissions to legal directories.

We will assess candidates based on their demonstrated knowledge, experience, and skills, including:

  • Qualification as a Solicitor/Legal Executive (or equivalent) - Essential;
  • Ideally possessing 2+ years of post-qualification experience;
  • Experience working with both public and private sector entities - Essential;
  • Knowledge of data protection regulations - Essential;
  • Experience in commercial contracts and procurement - Essential;
  • Proficiency in IT skills (including case management systems);
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team;
  • Strong client care skills, providing professional legal advice in line with SRA standards;
  • Experience managing a personal caseload and meeting deadlines while achieving financial targets;
  • Excellent writing and drafting capabilities, with strong communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and effective organizational skills;
  • Interest in long-term career development within the department;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
