Position Overview
Forbes Solicitors is seeking a dedicated Associate/Senior Associate to enhance our Housing and Regeneration (Litigation) Team. This role is structured as a full-time position, encompassing 36.25 hours per week, with a standard schedule from Monday to Friday.

This position presents an excellent opportunity for an individual to advance their career within our Housing Team, leveraging existing skills and expertise in a collaborative and professional environment. Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be tasked with achieving favorable outcomes through:

  • Managing a diverse caseload involving social housing tenancy and leasehold disputes, focusing on anti-social behavior and housing management issues, alongside more intricate residential leasehold cases;
  • Representing clients in County Court, Magistrates Court, and First-tier Tribunal hearings, covering a variety of proceedings, including:
    • Injunction applications, both on notice and ex parte,
    • Committal hearings,
    • Directions and case management hearings,
    • Conducting trials, contingent on experience and qualifications;
  • Providing comprehensive written and verbal legal advice in both litigated and non-litigated contexts;
  • Facilitating communication with clients, opposing parties, Courts/Tribunals, and other stakeholders to advance case files;
  • Delivering and overseeing value-added services such as client helpline support, legal surgeries, and briefing notes;
  • Assisting the Head of Department, Partners, and other advisors with their cases and the execution of departmental strategies;
  • Overseeing, mentoring, and training Solicitors, Caseworkers, and Paralegals to meet business objectives and professional development targets;
  • Ensuring adherence to internal and external business standards, including quality control and compliance with regulatory principles;
  • Monitoring and reporting on financial performance and productivity of self and team members to ensure profitability;
  • Contributing to internal improvement initiatives, innovation, and knowledge sharing;
  • Collaborating across departments on joint projects and initiatives;
  • Assisting in the formulation of the departmental business plan;
  • Fostering positive relationships with clients to enhance the firm's reputation and drive growth;
  • Participating in business development activities, including training sessions, publications, and submissions to legal directories.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Qualified Solicitor (or equivalent CILEX) with a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience;
  • Essential experience in social housing litigation;
  • Proven advocacy experience in Courts or Tribunals, with a willingness to travel;
  • Higher Rights of Audience in Civil Courts is advantageous;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines while achieving financial targets;
  • Proficient in IT systems, including Word, Outlook, and case management software;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and exhibit self-motivation;
  • Experience in supervising and managing others effectively;
  • Collaborative team player with reliability and enthusiasm;
