Position Overview
Forbes Solicitors is seeking a qualified Associate/Senior Associate to enhance our Housing and Regeneration (Litigation) Team. This full-time position involves a commitment of 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for a professional to advance their career within our Housing Team, contributing their expertise to a collaborative and high-performing environment. Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be tasked with achieving favorable outcomes through:

  • Managing a diverse caseload of social housing tenancy and leasehold disputes, primarily focused on anti-social behavior and housing management issues, along with some complex residential leasehold cases;
  • Representing clients in County Court, Magistrates Court (civil jurisdiction), and First-tier Tribunal hearings, covering a variety of proceedings, including:
    • On notice and ex parte injunction applications,
    • Committal hearings, both on notice and post-arrest,
    • Directions and case management hearings,
    • Opportunities to conduct trials for those suitably qualified;
  • Providing comprehensive written and verbal legal advice in both litigated and non-litigated contexts;
  • Facilitating communication with clients, opposing parties, Courts/Tribunals, and other stakeholders to advance case progress;
  • Delivering and overseeing value-added services such as client helpline support, legal surgeries, and briefing notes;
  • Assisting the Head of Department, Partners, and other advisors with their casework and the implementation of departmental strategies;
  • Overseeing, mentoring, and training Solicitors, Caseworkers, and Paralegals to help them achieve their professional development goals;
  • Ensuring adherence to internal and external compliance standards, including ISO:9001 quality control and SRA Principles/Code of Conduct;
  • Monitoring and reporting on financial performance related to personal and team caseloads to ensure profitability;
  • Contributing to internal improvements, innovation, and knowledge sharing initiatives;
  • Collaborating across departments on joint cases, projects, and events;
  • Participating in the formulation of the departmental business plan;
  • Building strong relationships with clients to enhance the firm's reputation and foster business growth;
  • Engaging in business development activities, including training sessions, articles, newsletters, and submissions to legal directories.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Qualified Solicitor (or CILEX equivalent with civil rights of audience) with a minimum of 3 years PQE;
  • Essential experience in social housing litigation;
  • Demonstrated advocacy experience in Courts or Tribunals, with a willingness to travel as required;
  • Higher Rights of Audience in Civil Courts is advantageous but not mandatory;
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload effectively, meet deadlines, and generate fees in line with targets;
  • Proficient in IT systems, including Word, Outlook, and case management software;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and exhibit self-motivation;
  • Capability to supervise and manage others effectively;
  • Collaborative team player with reliability and enthusiasm;
