Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom Victim Support Scotland Full time

Victim Support Scotland – Empowering Individuals Affected by Crime.

Our mission is to place victims and witnesses at the forefront of our operations, ensuring they are acknowledged, experience enhanced well-being, and feel secure and informed. We strive to be an effective organization that creates a lasting impact.

About Us

Victim Support Scotland is dedicated to providing assistance and information to individuals impacted by crime while advocating for the rights of victims and witnesses. Our services are available free of charge, confidential, and customized to meet individual needs, regardless of whether a crime has been reported or when it occurred. Our vision is to ensure that all individuals affected by crime – including victims, witnesses, and their families – are treated with dignity and respect, placing them at the core of the justice system in Scotland. Our mission is to guarantee that all those impacted by crime receive high-quality support that aids in their recovery. Our work is guided by six core principles: engaging and compassionate; inclusive and accessible; person-centered; adaptive, flexible, and responsive; collaborative; and knowledgeable and skilled. Join us in our commitment to empowering individuals affected by crime.

VSS prioritizes the safeguarding and welfare of all service users, implementing a thorough recruitment and selection process, including necessary checks to uphold this commitment.

Role Overview

We are excited to announce an opportunity to become a National Support Centre Team Leader, working 35 hours per week.

This position operates on a rotational schedule, covering five out of seven days, with a combination of early, mid, and late shifts. Our operational hours are as follows:

  • Monday - Friday: 8am - 8pm
  • Saturday - Sunday: 10am - 4pm

About the National Support Centre

Our National Support Centre (NSC) offers round-the-clock assistance to individuals experiencing crime. The support we provide is centered around our National Helpline and online resources. We process referrals from various sources across Scotland, including Courts, Police, external organizations, and individuals directly affected by crime. The NSC serves as the initial point of contact for those seeking our assistance.

As a member of the National Support Centre Team, you will oversee a group of volunteers responsible for delivering, implementing, and assessing the nationwide National Support Centre function across VSS. Our aim is to provide effective and efficient support across the organization, ensuring that victims and witnesses receive the information they need in a timely and accessible manner. You will work collaboratively with your colleagues to ensure that all support options and new initiatives are informed by the insights of service users. Additionally, you will manage all aspects of volunteer engagement within the Support Centre, including recruitment, onboarding, training, ongoing performance management, and support. Your role will ensure that volunteers are well-equipped, knowledgeable, and capable of delivering the necessary support to meet service user needs.

If you seek a meaningful role where you can truly make a difference, this position may be the right fit for you.

Qualifications for Success

We are looking for a candidate with experience in a similar capacity, possessing the ability to plan and organize a complex workload with changing deadlines to meet specific targets while ensuring quality outcomes. An effective leadership style is essential, with the capability to inspire confidence, motivate, and enhance performance. A solid understanding of the voluntary and charity sector is required, along with a willingness to adapt working hours and travel as necessary.

Further details regarding this role can be found in the job description.

Benefits

At Victim Support Scotland, we prioritize your well-being. We offer an enhanced annual leave package, along with access to a complimentary health cash plan that covers you and your family for various benefits, including dental care, virtual GP access, counseling, legal support, and discounts on gym memberships, cinema tickets, and retail. Additionally, we provide a generous pension scheme, enhanced parental leave, and access to a credit union. Supporting employee development is a key focus, and we offer extensive learning and development opportunities.
