Role Overview

Turner & Townsend is currently offering several exciting opportunities for Project Controls Managers to oversee High Tech and Manufacturing projects in the North West. In this role, you will lead a multi-disciplinary Project Controls team, working in close collaboration with the client's Project Manager and supply chain to establish a realistic baseline and implement effective controls to monitor progress, manage challenges, and mitigate delays, ensuring successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive breakdown structure, integrating data from all control functions.
  • Facilitate and lead estimating sessions to establish an agreed, market-tested cost baseline, emphasizing value for money and budget accuracy.
  • Organize and lead planning sessions and workshops to create the master project/programme schedule baseline, ensuring feasibility in duration.
  • Grasp procurement principles, compiling lead times within the schedule to prioritize the ordering of materials and equipment for timely installations.
  • Oversee the risk management process, including qualitative and quantitative assessments to enhance cost and schedule predictability.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring all key stakeholders approve the baseline and receive regular progress updates.
  • Implement a robust update process, ensuring effective management of schedule, interfaces, costs, risks, and changes.
  • Guide and influence the principal contractor and client, collaborating to drive delivery and achieve schedule and cash flow KPIs.
  • Control costs utilizing your knowledge of conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, and procurement principles.
  • Maintain the master program by applying quality checks to updates from the client and principal contractor.
  • Lead the change management process, providing a framework for timely addition, tracking, monitoring, and approval of changes.
  • Identify trends and root causes of deviations from the baseline using lead and lag indicators, effectively reporting any remedial actions to maximize client value.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering Controls within a major project/programme environment.
  • Background in the Hi-tech & Manufacturing specialist sector.
  • Experience managing a multi-functional controls team.
  • Proficiency in controls and general software applications such as Primavera (P6), Power BI, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management.
  • Experience leading collaborative workshops.
  • Reliable with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management skills, quick thinking, and ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Highly motivated and driven, with a commitment to delivering for clients and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required, even with increased remote working opportunities.
