Job Title: Environmental Conservation Officer - Volunteer Program Manager
Job Summary:
Ribble Rivers Trust is seeking an experienced Environmental Conservation Officer to manage and deliver our volunteer program, focusing on habitat conservation and community engagement. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental conservation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement habitat conservation projects, including tree planting, woodland maintenance, and wetland restoration.
- Manage and coordinate volunteer activities, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for participants.
- Collaborate with the team to design and deliver community outreach programs, promoting environmental awareness and education.
- Monitor and evaluate project progress, making adjustments as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including local communities, partners, and funders.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting, including tracking volunteer hours, project progress, and financial data.
Requirements:
- Master's degree or equivalent in environmental science, conservation biology, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental conservation, volunteer management, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to changing circumstances.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS software, with experience in data analysis and reporting.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Ribble Catchment and its conservation challenges.
- Experience with chainsaw operation, brush cutter maintenance, and knapsack sprayer use.
