Job Description

Job Title: Environmental Conservation Officer - Volunteer Program Manager

Job Summary:

Ribble Rivers Trust is seeking an experienced Environmental Conservation Officer to manage and deliver our volunteer program, focusing on habitat conservation and community engagement. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental conservation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement habitat conservation projects, including tree planting, woodland maintenance, and wetland restoration.
  • Manage and coordinate volunteer activities, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for participants.
  • Collaborate with the team to design and deliver community outreach programs, promoting environmental awareness and education.
  • Monitor and evaluate project progress, making adjustments as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including local communities, partners, and funders.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting, including tracking volunteer hours, project progress, and financial data.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in environmental science, conservation biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental conservation, volunteer management, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to changing circumstances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS software, with experience in data analysis and reporting.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Ribble Catchment and its conservation challenges.
  • Experience with chainsaw operation, brush cutter maintenance, and knapsack sprayer use.
