Yolk Recruitment Ltd is seeking a skilled Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to join a leading organization in the energy and engineering sector.

In this role, you will be tasked with the development and refinement of electrical and instrumentation design schematics, addressing construction and deconstruction needs, identifying testing protocols, and providing support for troubleshooting new installations and modifications. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing continuous improvement initiatives while also contributing to new capital project developments to align with business and site objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimating costs associated with electrical and instrumentation design and installation.
  • Designing and modifying various diagrams including schematic diagrams, single line diagrams, loop drawings, cable routing drawings, panel layout drawings, block cable diagrams, and motor control centers.
  • Drafting comprehensive scopes of work, bills of materials, termination schedules, equipment data sheets, cable schedules, labeling schedules, proof testing documents, and cable transfer documents.
  • Providing design packs and technical support to installation supervisors as necessary.
  • Conducting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) both on-site and at supplier locations.
  • Regularly updating management on work status through briefings.
  • Managing and prioritizing design office requests effectively.

Required Qualifications:

  • HNC in Electrical Design or an equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive practical design experience within a Top Tier COMAH site in a process or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of P&IDs, line diagrams, process data sheets, and mechanical drawings.
  • Proficient in using Trimble Pro Design for cable sizing and protection calculations.
  • Competent in AutoCAD 2019.
  • Familiarity with low voltage power system design.
  • Knowledgeable in instrumentation and control loop design.
  • Demonstrable experience with BS7671:2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations (IET Wiring Regulations) and BS EN 61439 Low-voltage switchgear and control gear assemblies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DCS/PLC systems such as Emerson Delta V, Hima Sella Safety Systems, and Mitsubishi PLCs.
  • Knowledge of motor control systems including Variable Speed Drives, Soft Start, and Direct On-Line (DOL) systems.
  • Familiarity with safety systems and equipment, particularly Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification is advantageous.
