Position Overview:

We are collaborating with a prestigious publishing house renowned for its academic contributions, seeking to appoint an Academic Marketing Lead to enhance their expanding portfolio of open access publications.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: £32,000 - £37,000
  • Location: Flexible between London or Oxford (2 days in-office)
  • Annual Leave: 25 days plus public holidays and a seasonal closure

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in marketing within the realm of Open Access publishing, whether through journals or books. A strong grasp of strategic campaign development and multi-channel marketing is essential. We seek a marketing professional who is strategically oriented and has a solid understanding of engaging with academic libraries and the wider scholarly community.

Desirable qualifications include experience in promoting publishing products to an international audience and proficiency in utilizing email marketing systems or customer relationship management (CRM) tools.

Key Responsibilities:

This role encompasses the management and advancement of the marketing and communication strategy for the Open Access book collection. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing departmental campaigns and budget allocations
  • Implementing comprehensive marketing strategies across various platforms
  • Participating in academic conferences and events
  • Staying updated on industry developments
  • Collaborating on thought leadership initiatives
  • Enhancing the skills of the global marketing team

This position requires collaboration with multiple departments, contributing to organization-wide projects, and occasional travel for conferences and events. We are looking for a team-oriented individual who can also introduce innovative ideas and initiatives.

About the Organization:

This esteemed organization is recognized for its well-established and rapidly expanding academic collections. The selected candidate will have specific responsibilities for some of the most distinguished lists, including those focused on Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Within the Academic division, a new library-funded Open Collection initiative has been launched, providing the Marketing Lead with the opportunity to collaborate with the Global Director of Research to promote awareness of the Open Access book program and other scholarly research initiatives.
