Research Focus: The successful candidate will join a dynamic team engaged in investigating and targeting the tumor microenvironment associated with pancreatic cancer. The laboratory employs a combination of ex vivo human and murine pancreatic tumor organoid/fibroblast co-cultures alongside murine in vivo models to explore the intricate interactions between pancreatic cancer cells and their surrounding environment.

Key Techniques: The role will involve utilizing a variety of advanced techniques, including:

  • Development of orthotopic transplantation models for pancreatic cancer
  • Flow cytometry and sorting
  • Single-cell and bulk RNA sequencing
  • Multiplexed immunohistochemistry
  • RNA in situ hybridization
  • Microscopy
  • Drug and CRISPR strategies in organoids and fibroblasts
  • Pre-clinical studies in genetically engineered mouse models
  • Analysis of human pancreatic tissues

Opportunities for Innovation: The selected candidate will spearhead a developing project within the lab, focusing on characterizing the roles of various fibroblast subtypes in pancreatic cancer through novel in vivo and in vitro models. As a post-doctoral member, there will be significant opportunities to influence the direction of the project and contribute original, innovative ideas.

Candidate Requirements: Applicants should be nearing completion of a PhD in a relevant field. A robust background in molecular and cellular biology is essential, along with substantial experience in tissue culture, CRISPR/Cas9 techniques, flow cytometry, organoid/fibroblast work, and mouse models of pancreatic cancer. Candidates lacking these qualifications will not be considered.

Team Collaboration: The ideal candidate will thrive in a diverse and inclusive team environment, demonstrating strong collaboration skills, effective communication, and creative problem-solving abilities. They should be prepared to contribute intellectually to various projects.
