Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom University of Cambridge Full time

Position Overview: The University of Cambridge is inviting applications for a dedicated and innovative Research Associate to join the Biffi Laboratory at the CRUK Cambridge Institute. This role is aimed at individuals with a focus on pancreatic cancer research and expertise in advanced techniques such as CRISPR, cell biology, and mouse models.

Research Focus: The successful candidate will engage in a project that investigates the interactions between pancreatic cancer cells and their surrounding microenvironment. The laboratory employs a combination of ex vivo human and murine pancreatic tumor organoid/fibroblast co-cultures alongside murine in vivo models to achieve this goal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize techniques such as orthotopic transplantation models, flow cytometry, and RNA sequencing.
  • Conduct multiplexed immunohistochemistry and RNA in situ hybridization.
  • Perform drug and CRISPR strategies in organoids and fibroblasts.
  • Lead pre-clinical studies in genetically engineered mouse models of pancreatic cancer.
  • Analyze human pancreatic tissues to draw meaningful conclusions.

Candidate Profile: Applicants should be nearing completion of a PhD in a relevant field and possess a robust background in molecular and cell biology. Proficiency in tissue culture, CRISPR/Cas9 methodologies, flow cytometry, and experience with organoid/fibroblast work and mouse models is essential. Candidates lacking these qualifications will not be considered.

Employment Details: This is a fixed-term position, with funding available for an initial period. The successful candidate will be expected to undergo necessary background checks prior to employment.

Diversity and Inclusion: The University of Cambridge is committed to fostering an inclusive environment and encourages applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds, particularly those who are currently under-represented in our department.

Eligibility: All employees must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
